      COSMECEUTICALS

Do you send free samples ?
ORGÉV does not send free samples. To receive trial sizes, please visit a retailer and speak with an aesthetic professional who will recommend the product best adapted to your needs.

      What is a cosmeceutical ?
The term "cosmeceutical" is a portmanteau of the words "cosmetics" and "pharmaceutical". A cosmeceutical is a topical product with aesthetic purposes that produces noticeable biological effects on the skin.
ORGÉV comes from the professional medical world and all our cosmetics are cosmeceuticals manufactured according to pharmaceutical standards.

Are your cosmeceuticals tested on animals ?
No, ORGÉV cosmeceuticals are not tested on animals. The tolerance of each new ORGÉV product is evaluated using two alternative experiment methods: tests on cell cultures and use tests on voluntary healthy people.

Do I need to place ORGÉV cosmeceuticals in the fridge ?
ORGÉV cosmeceuticals can be stored without damage at room temperature during their useful period, provided they are maintained away from light or heat sources. Only certain products, in order to maximize the effectiveness, are recommended to be placed in the refrigerator. In this case, this specification is mentioned on the packaging.
If the temperature is more than 25 °C, or if you won't be using your products for a long time, you may want to put them in the refrigerator. In general, be sure to tightly close your products after use and protect them from light and variations in temperature.

Are ORGÉV cosmeceuticals "natural" or "organic" ?
The genius of the human being is its ability to transform nature to improve its living condition. Do not modify nature would have as result an average human life expectancy of about 30 years. Concerning the cosmetics, man has improved their quality for thousands of years (the ancient Egyptians already synthesized molecules for their therapeutic properties over 3000 years ago). And today, and particularly at ORGÉV, we use the latest discoveries and the most recent biotechnologies to obtain the best performing products possible in terms of effectiveness and safety. ORGÉV will not hesitate to prefer an ingredient considered as "unnatural" to an ingredient considered as "natural" if the later is less safe and less effective.
The current marketing success of the organic and natural cosmetics must not hide the fact that these products are generally much less effective than conventional cosmetics, that it's not because they are "natural" they can not be dangerous, and that their stability and preservation are major issues of concern.
However, beyond this fact, ORGÉV produces many products with high levels of "natural" and "organic" ingredients. Certain ORGÉV products can even be qualified as "100% natural.

Do the ORGÉV cosmeceuticals contain Parabens ?
At ORGÉV, we are first and foremost scientists and researchers. And as such, we do not want and can not follow the popular fashions and beliefs, just the facts.
The toxicity of parabens has never been proven. On the contrary, clinical studies have demonstrated its complete safety.
Parabens are antimicrobial and antifungal agents of crucial importance. Synthetic or natural, as occurs naturally in some foods and in the human body (precursor of coenzyme Q10), it is used for more than 80 years in drugs, food and cosmetics. Its nonuse would have very dangerous consequences (bacterial contamination).

The idea of a potential toxicity associated with the use of parabens started in the late 90's with a study showing a very weak estrogenic effect in vitro (from ten thousands to millions of times less than the 17ß-estradiol). Although this kind of effect can also be reached by many other natural molecules and has been contradicted by subsequent studies in vivo (no estrogenic effect), a british study from 2004 has created controversy by advancing the hypothesis that a regular and continue application of antiperspirants containing parabens could accelerate the development of breast cancer. This study was very strongly criticized by the scientific community because large methodological errors were committed. An official scientific report of the European Commission has listed all these errors, and since, very many serious studies have all clearly shown the absolute safety of parabens. They are totally safe, have highly efficient antimicrobial properties, and are difficult to replace.
Therefore, although the idea of danger has germinated in the minds of concerned consumers and politicians, and has been exploited by opportunistic industrialists, at ORGÉV, some of our products (particularly some of our creams) contain parabens. However, we are also one of the manufacturers of cosmetics using the least of parabens (over 80% of the products on the market contain parabens), as many ORGÉV cosmeceuticals, due to their manufacturing methods, formulations and the purity of their pharmaceutical grade ingredients, are preserved without the use of parabens (freeze-drying, sterilization, natural preservatives and refrigeration, etc.).

At what age should I start using anti-aging products ?
Aging of the skin begins around the age of 25. We recommend that once women turn 25 they begin using products suited to their skin type and needs following an individual skin diagnosis from an aesthetic professional.

      INJECTABLES

      What is Mesotherapy ?
Mesotherapy is a safe, effective and established non-surgical medical technique developed by the French doctor Dr. Michel Pistor in the 1950's. It involves local (on the area to be treated), multiple injections of micro-doses of active therapeutic substances. These injections can be intraepidermal, intradermal or subcutaneous.

Who is authorized to inject dermal fillers ?
Only doctors trained in injection techniques are authorized to inject dermal fillers. In some countries, such as Canada, England or Australia, nurses are also authorized to carry out injections.

How long will the effects of MACDERMOL last ?
The durability varies from 3 to 18 months depending on :
      -the type of MACDERMOL used
      -the patient’s skin quality
      -the patient’s age
-patient’s lifestyle (sun exposure, smoke, stress, alcohol, lack of sleep or nutritional deficiencies may shorten the effects)
-the injection technique of the practitioner
-the severity of the wrinkle to be corrected
      -the volume injected

      Is MACDERMOL injection painful ?
The injections are relatively painless. The topical application of an anesthetic agent is possible to improve patient comfort.

Are there any adverse events following MACDERMOL injection ?
Following injection, slight redness, swelling or bruising may occur at the site of injection. These temporary reactions which generally subside over 72 hours do not have to be the source of concern and can be simply treated by applying ice and an arnica or vitamin K cream, and easily covered up with makeup.

What are the recommendations to follow prior to MACDERMOL injection ?
Do not take aspirin in the three days prior to the injection session. As MACDERMOL is non-allergenic, no allergy test is required.

What are the recommendations to follow after MACDERMOL injection ?
In the two weeks following treatment, patients are advised to avoid sun and strong heat.
The topical applications of arnica or vitamin K cream to diminish the potential adverse events, and antioxidants and sunscreen to improve the duration of effect, are possible (ideally use ELAXINE Comfort from Novatex Bioengineering for these two purposes).

How effective is MACDERMOL compared to botulinum toxin ?
Botulinum toxin (BT) is not a product of filling. It is a toxin which paralyses the muscles. BT offers many disadvantages:
      - Its use must be controlled with much experience and professionalism because allergies, infections and other complications are not rare
      - It is indicated only for certain expression lines on the upper third of the face (forehead lines, glabellar, crow's feet)
      - There is a loss of expression and the face often appears as inanimate

Nevertheless, certain doctors use BT combined with HA with great success. Clinical studies show that the use of BT in combination with HA is more effective than BT alone.

      What is Osteoarthritis ?
Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common joint disease and cause of disabilities, especially in the elder people (more than 80 percent of the population over 55 years of age is affected by osteoarthritis). It is characterized by cartilage erosion, changes in subchondral bone, osteophyte formation and synovial inflammation The main symptoms of OA are chronic pain, stiffness and loss of mobility.

      How does ARTHROMAC work ?
ARHTROMAC is a product for viscosupplementation, which is a safe, effective and well-established treatment in OA consisting in injecting a hyaluronic acid-based solution into the affected synovial joint.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a major component of the synovial fluid and cartilage, and, thanks to its viscoelastic and rheological properties , is responsible of the lubrication and cushioning in joints.
It decreases friction between joint surfaces and protects soft tissue from trauma by acting as a shock absorbant.
HA also have analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and chondroprotective effects, stimulates proteoglycan synthesis, and facilitates the evacuation of cartilaginous remains.

The quantity and quality of HA in the synovial fluid are reduced in the patients who have osteoarthritis because its synthesis by the synovial and cartilage cells is disturbed. The protection of articular surfaces thus is strongly altered, the cartilage becomes vulnerable and exposed to structural degradations due to the forces of friction and compression.

ARTHROMAC will restore good lubrication and shock absorption in the joint and provide significant pain and stiffness relief. ARTHROMAC relieves pain, improves mobility and protects cartilage.

      How is ARTHROMAC given?
ARTHROMAC is administered by a single injection into the affected joint. The procedure is performed by a doctor or other qualified health care professional and takes approximately 10 minutes.

      Is ARTHROMAC injection painful ?
The injection is relatively painless. The topical application of an anesthetic agent is possible to improve patient comfort.

What type of joints can be treated with ARTHROMAC ?
All synovial joints affected by osteoarthritis can be treated. Particularly the knee and hip, but also the ankle, shoulder, elbow, wrist, fingers, toes, and the temporomandibular and facet joints.

Are there any adverse events following ARTHROMAC injection ?
Following injection, transient pain and swelling of the injected joint may occur. These temporary reactions which generally subside over 72 hours do not have to be the source of concern and can be simply treated by resting and applying ice to the injected joint.

What are the recommendations to follow after ARTHROMAC injection ?
An articular rest of approximately 24 hours is recommended after injection.

How effective is ARTHROMAC compared to NSAIDs and corticosteroids?
Clinical studies show the superiority of the viscosupplementation compared to NSAIDs and corticosteroids as from the third week following injection, with a similar effectiveness of all treatments before this period, and a much longer duration of action for viscosupplementation (up to 14 months).
Moreover, contrary to NSAIDs and corticosteroids, viscosupplementation provides:
      - a correction of the stiffness and an improvement of the mobility
      - a complete safety. Numerous side effects and counter-indications are linked to the use of NSAIDs and corticosteroids
      - chondroprotective and wound healing properties, enabling to protect and repair cartilage
-an easier evacuation of cartilaginous remains
Clinical studies also show that the use of NSAIDs or corticosteroids in combination with viscosupplementation is more effective for reducing pain than NSAIDs or corticosteroids alone.
